Food allergies are widespread: On average, one person in five is affected. The topic of allergies, as well as the labelling of allergens, has once again come under the spotlight due to the German Food Information Regulation, effective since 13 December 2014. Now, loose goods must contain mandatory information about allergies, as opposed to only packaged foods previously.

Whether as a label directly on the goods, or through other information material – it must be clear to the allergy sufferer in writing which ingredients are contained in the goods, so that they can make the best possible decision for their health.
